Emotions are the fire of consciousness, and it is that fire that can either purify or damage us.The positive emotions of happiness, joy, inspiration, and love can optimize our body functioning more efficiently than any diet or exercise regimen. The emotions of fear, anger, sadness and pain will eat away at the body if we do not deal with them appropriately. But in either case, feelings are there to be felt. If we don't allow ourselves to fully experience, we deny ourselves the healing potential of the positive ones and harm ourselves by not releasing the negative ones. One of the biggest myths about The Secret is, that it is only about positive thinking. It is true that changing your thoughts to more positive ones can sometimes make you feel better about things. But positive thinking is often a form of denial, like covering up a rotting flooring in a house with brand new linoleum. The key for us then, is to accept, feel and express all feelings to move on to the life you want. Someone dies; you grieve. You don't just not think about it. But wallowing in and continually focusing on limiting ideas that only keep you in a state of anger, fear and sadness will cause you to get 'stuck' and attract more of the same into your life. But it is this cleansing and forgiving (feeling and letting go) that will take you to the life you want.
