What a thought....and I'm sure could be quite a controversy? What do you think?
As an educator and parent for 30 years I say YES.....
Our schools today are so obsessed with test scores to the point that all we teach our kids is that academic 'stuff.' No Child Left Behind Act is leaving more and more kids behind despite the extra and unnecessary pressure we are putting on our kids.
Its about time we look at what should be the purpose of education and I mean in the home and in the school. Think about the questions below (answer them too please) - and whether this is what we want the end product of our educational system to be....
Are we teaching our children how to live happy, productive and fulfilling lives?
Are we producing well-balanced, empowered children who will make a meaningful contribution to the world?
Are we truly encouraging the limitless potential that is present in all children?
